What started out as an underground party in the early 90's has since grown into one of the largest and longest running electronic music festivals in the world, touring through cities including Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, San Diego, Denver, Phoenix and other destinations.
Founded in 1878, Silverado , a California Historical Landmark, is an unincorporated community in Silverado Canyon, which is located in the Santa Ana Mountains in eastern Orange County, California. Portions of the town sit on a former Mexican land grant Rancho Lomas de Santiago. The majority of Silverado is located within the boundaries of Cleveland National Forest. The area was mined extensively for silver during the late 19th century. Remnants of mining operations such as the Blue Light Mine are still scattered throughout the surrounding mountains. Timber was harvested for use by the railroad. Coal was mined in a nearby area known at the time as Carbondale.
Ancient sea life fossils can be found within the sandstone cliffs in the area. During Spanish rule, the canyon was visited by Spanish explorers and was known by the name Cañada de la Madera (Timber Canyon). The town in Spain by that name bears a remarkable resemblance to Silverado Canyon. (The name Silverado is a type of Spanglish indicating a place where silver is found; a parallel formation to El Dorado.)
The Summer Sonic Festival is an annual two or three-days rock festival held at the same time in Osaka and Chiba. The majority of the bands playing in Osaka the first day go to Chiba the following day and vice versa.

Chiba Marine Stadium is a stadium in Chiba City, Japan. It opened in 1990 and holds 30,000 people. The official opening of the stadium was held on April 13, 1990, when popstar Madonna opened her Blond Ambition Tour at the venue. Unfortunately, the show was blighted by very heavy rain and high winds, which led to the concert being dramatically scaled-back. The Summer Sonic Festival is held in the stadium and the neighbouring Makuhari Messe every summer. Makuhari Messe is a Japanese convention center outside Tokyo, located in the Mihama-ku ward of Chiba city, in the northwest corner of Chiba prefecture. Designed by Fumihiko Maki, it is easily accessible by Tokyo's commuter rail system. Makuhari is the name of the area, and Messe is a German word meaning "trade fair".
Chiba is the capital city of Chiba Prefecture, Japan. It is located approximately 40 km east of the center of Tokyo on Tokyo Bay. Chiba City became a government designated city in 1992. Its population as of 2008 is approximately 960,000. Chiba City is also one of the Kantō region's primary seaports, and is home to Chiba Port, which handles one of the highest volumes of cargo in the nation. Much of the city is residential, although there are many factories and warehouses located along the coast. Spirit of Burgas is a summer music festival in the city of Burgas, on the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria. The first edition of the festival took place on 15–17 August 2008 and since then it has significantly grown in popularity, becoming one of the most prominent summer music festivals in Europe.

The SonneMondSterne Festival (abbreviated SMS) is one of the largest open-air festivals of electronic music in Germany. The first SonneMondSterne Festival took place in 1997 with 2,500 visitors. 2009 about 100,000 people attended the three day event.

As an offshoot, it was in the years 2001 and 2002, the winter camp , which was a series of events in the month of February in order to bridge the time until the next SonneMondSterne Festival. Due to the large number of visitors this winter camp in April 2003 moved to the old military airfield to Allstedt around and took the name SonneMondSterne presents Music Camp. 2004 was the last camp music instead. Allstedt is a town the district of Mansfeld-Südharz, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated approximatively 10 km southeast of Sangerhausen.

The Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival is a music festival held annually in San Francisco, California at Golden Gate Park. The first edition occurred August 22–24 in 2008, and included over 60 musical acts from around the world, as well as several art installations.

The festival grounds included the Polo Field which was home to the Lands End Stage, the Speedway Meadow with Twin Peaks Stage and the Panhandle Stage, and finally the Lindley Meadow and the Sutro and Presido stages. Bringing in 40–60,000 attendees a day the inaugural festival was mostly a success, however was criticized for its crowd-control situation. Golden Gate Park, located in San Francisco, California, is a large urban park consisting of 1,017 acres (412 ha) of public grounds. Configured as a rectangle, it is similar in shape but 20% larger than Central Park in New York, to which it is often compared. It is over three miles (5 km) long east to west, and about half a mile north to south. With 13 million visitors annually, Golden Gate is the third most visited city park in the United States after Central Park in New York City and Lincoln Park in Chicago.

WEMF 2011 has been announced to take place at Madawaska, Ontario from Friday, August 12 to Sunday August 14. The lineup was announced in stages, with the portion first portion of the headliners released on April 15th, 2011, and the second portion released on May 13, 2011. Highlights include Rusko, Skrillex, Zeds Dead, Pendulum, Andy C, Noisia, Calvin Harris, Infected Mushroom, Caspa, and Mark Breeze. Tickets have been on sale since Tuesday, February 15, 2011and are being offered at escalating prices over time ($25 Increase per 1000 tickets). The talent lineup and budget is alleged to have been substantially increased for the 2011 festival to justify the substantially higher costs relative to previous years.
South Algonquin is a township in the Canadian province of Ontario. Located in the Nipissing District south of Algonquin Park, it is the sole populated portion of the district that lies south of the traditional dividing line between Northern Ontario and Southern Ontario. The township had a population of 1,253 in the Canada 2006 Census. In the summer of 2011., along with the traditional rock festival in Kavarna will take place and the first Summer Dance Festival Kavarna 2011.
Kavarna is a Black Sea coastal town and seaside resort in the Dobruja region of northeastern Bulgaria. It lies 64 km northeast of Varna and 49 km from Dobrich on the international road E87. As of December 2009, the town has a population of 11,397 inhabitants. A little yacht port, a fishing base, a spacious beach and a resort complex exist in the town. The landmark Cape Kaliakra is located a few kilometers to the east, as is the tony beachfront resort of Rusalka. Three 18-hole golf courses with villa communities and marinas are being developed nearby, two of the courses are designed by Gary Player and one by Ian Woosnam.
The lay of the land is flat and the seacoast of Kavarna is 42 km long. Along it there are small beaches, including an artificial one. Gore Chirakman with its almost sheer slopes towers above the seacoast. Remains of stronghold walls, moats, buildings, churches and necropolises can be found on the flat plateau. The region is rich in mineral waters. Since 2004 the town has turned in one of the centres of musical life in Bulgaria. Kavarna has been the host to several rock and roll concerts. In 2005 the most popular band to play in the town's stadium was Deep Purple. The other notable performers were mostly legends of German rock and heavy metal music, such as Scorpions, Axel Rudi Pell, Gamma Ray, Masterplan and Destruction.
