Oppikoppi 2011 Live Stream Online Feed, Limpopo Province, South Africa

Oppikoppi is the name of a music festival held in the Limpopo Province of South Africa, near the mining town of Northam. The festival started off focusing mostly on rock music, but gradually added more genres and now plays host to a complete mixed bag of genres.

This live feed is at the Oppikoppi festival:

Event Information:

Each year in August thousands of people flock to the farm to camp out in the bush and enjoy the music. The festival features mostly South African bands, although international acts are included in the mix.

Oppikoppi is a colloquial abbreviation of the Afrikaans phrase "op die koppie", which literally means "on the hill". The camping area is at the foot of a hill, on top of which is a bar and the Sipho Gumede stage. This stage features all the hip hop and dance acts, while the main Oppikoppi stage features all of the big acts and most of the rock. The festival started in 1994, with 27 local talents performing to a small crowd of enthusiasts. It has since grown substantially, with the addition of many new stages and thousands of people turning up each year. The festival is regarded by some as the primary influence in jump-starting the South African rock music movement in the late 90's. It has attracted anything from 5,000 to 15,000 people.

The festival hosts a wide array of acts, with artists being booked from genres such as: rock, hip hop, hardcore, punk, ska, folk, blues, drum ‘n bass, big beats, funk, kwaito, jazz, traditional, world music and other genres. In addition to the annual festival in August of every year, the festival also hosts a smaller, more intimate gathering on each Easter weekend in April, focusing mostly on rock and jazz. In the past there has also been New Year's gatherings.

Several boys learn what she has done and beg her to perform the same service for them, hoping to gain some of her newfound fame. This eventually turns into a full-fledged business, lucrative and socially beneficial for Olive, enough so to gain the ire of her rival, Marianne, who doesn't like the attention she's getting. Marianne therefore starts a string of rumors in order to bring down Olive's reputation and force her to leave the school. Olive's life begins to resemble that of Hester Prynne in Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter. Olive then decides to use the rumors to her own advantage, affixing a red A to her clothing in reference to the embattled heroine of the novel.

Trafalgar Square Webcam Live at the 2010 Liberty Festival

The Liberty Festival gives people the opportunity to show their talents to the British public. With a variety of activities throughout the day including singing, dancing and acting, as well as art events, comedy, music and a circus.

This live webcam is from Trafalgar Square London during the festival:

Location information:

Trafalgar Square is a square in central London, England. With its position in the heart of London, it is a tourist attraction, and one of the most famous squares in the United Kingdom and the world. At its centre is Nelson's Column, which is guarded by four lion statues at its base.

The name commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar (1805), a British naval victory of the Napoleonic Wars.

The northern area of the square had been the site of the King's Mews since the time of Edward I, while the southern end was the original Charing Cross, where the Strand from the City met Whitehall, coming north from Westminster. As the midpoint between these twin cities, Charing Cross is to this day considered the heart of London, from which all distances are measured.

Edinburgh Festival Webcam - Live 2010 View

Edinburgh Festival is a collective term for several simultaneous arts and cultural festivals that take place during August each year in Edinburgh, Scotland. These festivals are arranged by a number of formally unrelated organizations, meaning there is no single event officially termed the Edinburgh Festival.

This year several live events are taking place at the castle, covered by this live webcam:

Location Information:

Edinburgh Castle is a castle fortress which dominates the sky-line of the city of Edinburgh, Scotland, from its position atop the volcanic Castle Rock. Human habitation of the site is dated back as far as the 9th century BC, although the nature of early settlement is unclear. There has been a royal castle here since at least the reign of David I in the 12th century, and the site continued to be a royal residence until the Union of the Crowns in 1603. As one of the most important fortresses in the Kingdom of Scotland, Edinburgh Castle has been involved in many historical conflicts, from the Wars of Scottish Independence in the 14th century, up to the Jacobite Rising of 1745, and has been besieged, both successfully and unsuccessfully, on several occasions. From the later 17th century, the castle became a military base, with a large garrison. Its importance as a historic monument was recognised from the 19th century, and various restoration programmes have been carried out since.
