The Valderrama Golf Club, or Club de Golf Valderrama, is one of the best known golf clubs in Europe. It is located in the resort of Sotogrande, San Roque in the Andalusia region of Southern Spain, a few miles from Gibraltar, and has a single 18 hole course, along with a 9 hole par 3 course.
Valderrama was constructed in 1974 to the designs of leading American golf course architect Robert Trent Jones. Before switching to its present name, it was known as "Sotogrande New" and "Las Aves". In 1984 it was acquired by a new owner, Jaime Ortiz-Patiño, and expanded by the original architect. By 1999, it was rated the number one course in mainland Europe by Golf World magazine. In 2010 Valderrama the Valderrama Golf Course was purchased by a group headed by Greg Norman. The fourth hole, La Cascada, is the course's signature hole. It is a par 5 with a pond to the right of the two-tiered green. The practice ground was called the best in Europe by Nick Faldo
The long wait is finally almost over as the players are gathered in Newport for the start of the much anticipated 38th Ryder Cup. The European team are strong favourites, but the US team won't give up the title won at Valhalla easily.

The remaining players on each team were selected at the discretion of the team captains. Team USA was finalized on 7 September. Point are gained from money earned in majors in 2009 and official PGA tour events in 2010 up to 15 August (i.e., up to and including money earned at the 2010 PGA Championship).
