Arizona Wildfire Continues to Spread, AZ Fire Cam Stream

The large Arizona wildfire is continuing to grow today, with local firefighters contending with strong, dry winds, meaning they remain unable to properly contain the blaze.

The Wallow fire is already the third-largest in the state's history, having consumed 301 square miles. This live video footage shows the fire and attempts to fight it:

Over 2,000 firefighters from across the country have joined the fight, with residents evacuating towns in the fire's path. Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has described the fire as "horrific".

The fire, which started on 29 May, is threatening mountain communities in the east of the state. Smoke from the burning pine forests can be seen in the neighbouring states of New Mexico and Colorado.

Most residents of the resort town of Greer, in the White Mountains, left on Saturday, packing their belongings in to vehicles as the Wallow Fire moved closer. A blaze in 2002 burnt through 732 sq miles in the centre of the state and another in 2005 that scorched 387 sq miles near Phoenix.

Puyehue Cordón Caulle Volcano Erupts, Chile Volcanic Eruption Cam Stream

A chain of volcanoes, Puyehue-Cordon-Caulle range has erupted in southern Chile, forcing the evacuation of thousands of residents. Large columns of smoke have been rising from the volcano, about 800km (500 miles) south of the capital Santiago.

This live video footage has been captured of the eruption:

Volcano Information:

Puyehue and Cordón Caulle are two coalesced volcanic vents that form a major mountain massif in Puyehue National Park in the Andes of Ranco Province, Chile. In volcanology this group is known as the Puyehue-Cordón Caulle Volcanic Complex (PCCVC). Four different volcanoes constitute the volcanic group or complex, the Cordillera Nevada caldera, the Pliocene Mencheca volcano, Cordón Caulle fissure vents and the Puyehue stratovolcano. As with most stratovolcanoes on the Southern Volcanic Zone of the Andes, Puyehue and Cordón Caulle are located along the intersection of a traverse fault with the larger north-south Liquiñe-Ofqui Fault. The volcanic complex has shaped the local landscape and produced a huge variety of volcanic landforms and products over the last 300,000 years. Cinder cones, lava domes, calderas and craters can be found in the area apart from the widest variety of volcanic rocks in all the Southern Volcanic Zone, for example both primitive basalts and rhyolites. Cordón Caulle is notable for having erupted following the 1960 Valdivia earthquake, the largest recorded earthquake in history. Apart from this, the Puyehue-Cordón Caulle area is one of the main sites of exploration for geothermal power in Chile. Geothermal activity is manifested on the surface of Puyehue and Cordón Caulle as several boiling springs, solfataras and fumaroles.

Recent activity at the volcano has resulted in alert level 4 (out of 4) being issued on June 3rd, 2011. A new eruption started as of June 3rd 16:30 EDT. As of 4 June, the ash cloud reached a height of 10,000 meters.

VHS to DVD Transfer Service

Small in size and with superb digital quality. Why not take the next logical step and transfer your Mini DV footage to DVD?

Digital Video (DV) is a digital video format created by Sony, JVC, Panasonic and other video camera producers, and launched in 1995.

Video 2 DVD Transfers specialise in transferring this format onto DVD:

VHS to DVD Transfer

Its smaller tape form factor MiniDV has since become a standard for home and semi-professional video production; it is sometimes used for professional purposes as well, such as filmmaking and electronic news gathering.

The DV specification defines both the codec and the tape format. Features include intraframe compression for uncomplicated editing and good video quality, especially compared to earlier consumer analog formats such as Video8, Hi8 and VHS-C. DV now enables filmmakers to produce movies inexpensively.

MiniDV tapes can also be used to record a high-definition format called HDV in cameras designed for this codec, which differs significantly from DV on a technical level as it uses MPEG-2 compression.

MPEG-2 is more efficient than the compression used in DV, in large part due to inter-frame/temporal compression. This allows for higher resolution at bitrates similar to DV. On the other hand, the use of inter-frame compression can cause motion artifacts and complications in editing.

Transfer Your Holiday Video to DVD

Many people have old camcorder VHS format videos lying around the house, which can lose quality as they age. It is a lot more affordable than many imagine to get these old memories transferred onto new DVD files.

Video2DVDTransfers specialise in this service:

Video to DVD Transfer

Many people choose to transfer their VHS video files onto DVD for ease of use, quality of picture and longevity of content. Getting your old VHS videos transferred onto DVDs has never been easier now, thanks to Video 2 DVD Transfers.

Did you know that thousands of audio and videotapes are literally being eaten alive, destroying treasured family memories? Videotape is made from a cellulose carrier tape which is coated with ferric oxide which then stores the recording magnetically.

We are used to tapes becoming brittle and snapping over time. These kind of problem can be repaired and once repaired even old Betamax tapes can be transferred to DVD. More recently we have seen a massive increase in the number of tapes arriving with us that are infected with mould. Storage in damp and poorly ventilated conditions are the cause and the worst enemy of a videotape collection. The warm damp summers of the last three years have seen increasing numbers of mouldy tapes being sent to us. Once infected the spores spread rapidly and eat into the coating on the tape.

This damage can not be reversed nor can the recordings be recovered. There is nothing worse than having to tell a customer that the videotape with their wedding or child’s birthday recorded on it is lost forever.

BP Oil Spill Latest - Does Permanent Plug mean Relief Well no Longer Needed?

Pressure tests performed on the previously leaking well on Thursday should reveal if the leak has been stopped well enough to declare the operation complete. A this stage it will be decided if the well is permanently plugged and if drilling of a relief well is still necessary.

BP said last week its "static kill" procedure had successfully stopped the leak..

This live feed is monitoring the current situation:

Location Information:

The Deepwater Horizon oil spill (also referred to as the BP oil spill, the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, the BP oil disaster or the Macondo blowout) is a massive ongoing oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, now considered the largest offshore spill in U.S. history Some estimates placed it by late May or early June, 2010, as among the largest oil spills in the world with tens of millions of gallons spilled to date. The spill stems from a sea floor oil gusher that resulted from the April 20, 2010 Deepwater Horizon drilling rig explosion. The explosion killed 11 platform workers and injured 17 others.

BP Oil Spill Live Feed - Static Kill is Underway

Gulf of Mexico Deepwater Horizon Webcam - BP Oil Spill Live Feed

Live underwater feed from the site of the BP oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico as attempts are in progress to kill the leak once and for all.

As what is hoped will be one of the final stages in stopping the leaking gulf oil well, the process of static kill is now underway as BP aim to permanently plug the well.

For the static kill process, mud is pumped into the top of the well, pushing the oil back down into the reservoir. After this procedure, which could last several days - the top of the well could be filled with cement.

This live feed will capture all of the action as the attempt continues:
