Queens Club Championships 2011 Live Stream Online Tennis Tournament

The Queen's Club Championships is taking place this week. It is an annual tournament for male tennis players, held on grass courts at the Queen's Club in West Kensington, London. Between 1970 and 1989 it was part of the Grand Prix tennis circuit.

The tournament is being covered online by the BBC, and you can watch online here:

Event Information:

Its sponsored name is currently the AEGON Championships. The tournament was known as the Stella Artois Championships from 1979 until 2008, and the London Grass Court Championships for most of the decades before that.

The Queen's Club Championships is held every year in June in the week after the French Open. Grass courts are the least common playing surface for top-level events on the ATP Tour (excluding Challenger Series events). The 2009 schedule includes only four grass court tournaments in the run-up to Wimbledon. Alongside Queen's, there are the Gerry Weber Open, the AEGON International, and the UNICEF Open. An additional tournament is played on grass in Newport, Rhode Island, USA, in the week immediately after Wimbledon.

Outside Wimbledon, this is the grass-court tournament with the largest draw size and it has a reputation for helping to produce Wimbledon champions. In addition, it enjoys full coverage on BBC TV in the UK, and was shown in High Definition for the first time in 2009. Andy Roddick and Lleyton Hewitt have dominated the tournament in recent times, each winning four titles. Four titles is the most anyone has won at Queens with famous names such as Emerson and Connors added to Hewitt and Roddick. Andy Roddick has called the courts at the Queen's Club "arguably the best in the world". The current champion is Sam Querrey

Both the Mavericks and Heat are making their second appearance in the NBA Finals, the first for both teams being the 2006. This Finals marks a rematch of the 2006 Finals, won by Miami in six games. It will be also the first time since 2006 that neither the Los Angeles Lakers nor the San Antonio Spurs will represent the Western Conference in the Finals and only the second time since 1998, and it will also be the thirteenth consecutive NBA Finals to feature a Western Conference Champion from either the states of California or Texas.

The Heat will have home-court advantage since they had a better regular-season record than the Mavericks This marks only the second time that the Eastern Conference had home court advantage during the Finals since the end of the Michael Jordan era in 1998. Among the players from both teams, only Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry of Dallas, and Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem of Miami, appeared in the 2006 series with the same team. Heat center Erick Dampier played for the Mavericks in 2006. Aside from Dampier, Juwan Howard and Shawn Marion are the only other players who have played for both the Mavericks and Heat. Eddie House, Žydrūnas Ilgauskas, LeBron James and Jason Kidd have appeared in the Finals with different teams, with House (as a member of Boston's 2008 championship team), Wade and Haslem winning a championship ring. Shavuot 2011 Live Jewish Festival in Jerusalem, Israel

Shavuot is a Jewish holiday that occurs on the sixth day of the Hebrew month of Sivan. Shavuot commemorates the anniversary of the day God gave the Torah to the entire Israelite nation assembled at Mount Sinai.

Location Information:

The Western Wall sometimes referred to as the Wailing Wall or simply the Kotel and as al-Buraaq Wall in Arabic, is an important Jewish religious site located in the Old City of Jerusalem. Just over half the wall, including its 17 courses located below street level, dates from the end of the Second Temple period, being constructed around 19 BCE by Herod the Great. The remaining layers were added from the 7th century onwards.

The date of Shavuot is directly linked to that of Passover. The Torah mandates the seven-week Counting of the Omer, beginning on the second day of Passover and immediately followed by Shavuot. This counting of days and weeks is understood to express anticipation and desire for the Giving of the Torah. On Passover, the Jewish people were freed from their enslavement to Pharaoh; on Shavuot they were given the Torah and became a nation committed to serving God.

China Floods Rise as Torrential Rain Forces Evacuations

Heavy rainfall in China is continuing to affect regions near the southern end of the Yangtze River. Sustained heavy falls have already swamped large areas of the provinces of Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi and Guizhou. These provinces have previously been hit by drought in recent months.

This live video shows the extent of the current flooding in the region:

Location Information:

The Yangtze is the longest river in Asia, and the third-longest in the world. It flows for 6,418 kilometres (3,988 mi) from the glaciers on the Tibetan Plateau in Qinghai eastward across southwest, central and eastern China before emptying into the East China Sea at Shanghai. It is also one of the biggest rivers by discharge volume in the world. The Yangtze drains one-fifth of China's land area and its river basin is home to one-third of China's population. Along with the Yellow River, the Yangtze is the most important river in the history, culture and economy of China. The prosperous Yangtze River Delta generates as much as 20% of China's GDP. The river is an important physical and cultural dividing line between North and South China. Chinese living north of the Yangtze speak varying dialects of Mandarin. Most of the provinces south of the river have native Sinitic languages that are unintelligible to Mandarin-speakers.

The Yangtze River flows through a wide array of ecosystems and is itself habitat to several endemic and endangered species including the Yangtze River dolphin (now extinct), Chinese alligator, and the Yangtze sturgeon. For thousands of years, man has used the river for water, irrigation, sanitation, transportation, industry, boundary-marking and war. The Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River is the largest hydro-electric power station in the world. In recent years, the river has suffered from industrial pollution, agricultural run-off, siltation, and loss of wetland and lakes, which exacerbates seasonal flooding. Some sections of the river are now protected as nature reserves. A stretch of the Yangtze flowing through deep gorges in western Yunnan is part of the Three Parallel Rivers of Yunnan Protected Areas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
